Edward Charles Lane
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Edward Charles Lane on Sunday, December 25th, 2016, with family by his side. Ed was born in Moose Jaw, SK on October 14th, 1941 to Charles and Beatrice Lane. He worked at numerous jobs from Thompson, MB to Moose Jaw, but was most known for driving the city bus until his retirement. He loved spending time at his cabin at Buffalo Pound Lake, making memories with family and friends, whether it was just a simple wave or having coffee. Ed took pride in making his yard at the lake beautiful. You could always find him riding his moped, collecting bottles. He was very active in the hockey community for many years, from being with the Moose Jaw Canucks to coaching many teams. Ed loved to have his grandchildren and great-grandchildren come to visit so he could give them the loose change in his pocket. Children always made him smile or laugh. Whether you were family or friend, you were always welcome for a visit or stay. Ed loved having family gatherings for special occasions, either at the lake or his house in town. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Beatrice Lane; his cherished wife, Lillian Lane; sisters: Win, Lois and Iona; and special great-granddaughter, Cassidy. Ed leaves to cherish his memory, his children: Robert (Marcia) Lane, Penny (Kelly) Wiens, Stewart (Donna) Lane, Mike (Kelly) Wowk, Bev (Dennis) Zerr, Wendy (Merv) Novak, and Cheryl Wowk; sisters: Joyce Weber, Cyone Winter, and Betty Delyea; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. We would like to give a heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff of Guardian Grove for the care you provided to our father. A Celebration of Ed’s Life will be held on Monday, January 2nd, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Harvey Room at Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Flowers are gratefully declined. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Ed’s name may be made to Providence Place Foundation for Guardian Grove, 100 – 2nd Ave NE, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1B8.
