George Knox

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dad, George Knox, a great man and a true gentleman.  George was born September 22nd, 1928 in Weyburn, SK and passed away Friday, June 22nd, 2012.  He spent many years in the Canadian Armed Forces including peace missions.  He was a member of the Legion, Knights of Columbus and Church of Our Lady.  Dad was predeceased by his first love and wife, Betty; mother, Katharine; father, John James; brothers, Robert and John; sister-in-law, Pauline; nephews, Dustin and Christopher; and the love of his life, his wife of 35 years, Norma in June 2010.  George leaves to mourn his passing, his children: Gord (Karla) Knox of Calgary; Bill (Heather) Robinson and their daughter Marissa; Clayton Robinson and his son Shaun; Jackie Usher and sons Cory (Erin) and their daughters Hannah and Madison, Aaron, Brendan, and their father Ray; cousin, Alf Bentley; niece, Lorrie (Ed) Moffat and their children James and Joanne; nephew, Johnny (Jenny) Knox and their children Jason, Jaclyn and Jenna; nephew, Ron Knox (Tessa Dupuis); nephew, Jim Knox and his children Jennifer, Robert, Susan and Steven.  George enjoyed golfing, travelling and gambling jaunts with Norma.  He had many great friends and acquaintances, many of whom he kept in contact with over the many years of his life.  We would like to thank his numerous friends for their support and kindness to him, including all he knew at Athabasca Towers, the caring nursing staff at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital who were our rock as we knew he was well cared for.  A Time of Fellowship for Family and Friends will be held on Wednesday, June 27th, 2012 from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. in the Harvey Room at Moose Jaw Funeral Home.  As per our Dad’s wishes, he will be cremated and buried with his father at the Veterans Cemetery in Weyburn, SK at a later date.  For those so wishing, memorial donations in George’s name may be made to the Chris Knox Foundation, P.O.
