Doris Klassen (née Haviland)
It is with great sadness that the family of Doris Klassen (née Haviland) of Moose Jaw, SK, announces her passing on Wednesday, May 31st, 2017 at the age of 93 years. She was predeceased by her first husband, Raymond Johnson in 1956; parents, Elizabeth and William Haviland; and sisters: Marion Robinson, Elsie Damon, Irene Tulloch, and Minnie Glover. Doris will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 54 years, Jake Klassen; son, Les (Brenda) Johnson; daughter, Lori (Terry) Bourdages; grandson, Jordy Bourdages; sister, Lois Griffin (Jim); as well as numerous relatives and long-time family friends. She will be fondly remembered for her gentle nature, her warm smile and strong commitment to family and friends. Doris often talked of growing up on the family farm in Kincaid, SK doing chores, going to school and playing with her sisters. She was thankful for parents who believed in strong family ties, honesty, caring and roots. After graduating from high school, she went to Teacher’s College in Moose Jaw and over the years taught in Buttress, Limerick, Mazenod, Regina and Central Butte, SK. Through the years she was always happy to meet up with former students and their families. The family would like to thank the staff of Extendicare for the care given to Doris. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 5th, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. in the Harvey Room at Moose Jaw Funeral Home. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Doris’ name may be made to the Saskatchewan Lung Association, Box 58000, Saskatoon, SK S7K 7Y4.
