Viola King

Viola King passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 9th, 2009 at the age of 99 years. Viola will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Nora Peterson of Saskatoon and Merle (Royce) Hetherington of Kelowna; grandchildren Shelley (Greg) Ervin of Calgary, Sandra (Paul) Melnyk of Saskatoon, Corbie (Greg) Hewko of Kelowna and Mark Hetherington of Kelowna; great grandchildren Mitchell Ervin, Luke and Ryan Melnyk, Tye, Jayce and Brooks Hewko; two sisters Leah Harlton and Bertie (Jim) Brentnell; and also her extended family and friends. Viola was predeceased by her husband of 33 years Bert; son in law Art Peterson; brothers Norman and Art Allcock. Viola was born in Belle Plaine, Sk. on September 9th, 1909. She met the love of her life, Bert King and they were married in 1937. Her favorite hobbies were gardening, petit point and crocheting. A Graveside Service will be held in Rosedale Cemetery on Wednesday, May 13th, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Those wishing to join the funeral cortege may meet in the parking lot of Moose Jaw Funeral Home by 12:50. Linda Owens will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Viola’s name to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Sask., 279 3rd Ave. N., Saskatoon, Sk., S7K 2H8.
