Edwin George Kettlewell
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father and husband, Edwin George Kettlewell on Saturday, April 1st, 2023 at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, SK. Edwin was born on December 30th, 1949 in Moose Jaw, SK. He graced our lives with his guidance and big heart that he shared with anyone in need. He was predeceased by his parents, Keith and Berniece Kettlewell; as well as by his infant sister, Doris in 1951. Edwin is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Shirley; children: Kimberley (Clayton) Kettlewell, Shelly (Steven) May, and Lindsey (Darcy) Kettlewell; and grandchildren: Rhett, Kennedy (Shelly), Camryn (Kimberley), and Bernie (Lindsey). Edwin was raised and spent his entire life in Brownlee, SK. He worked for his father Keith at Butte Farm Equipment from 1965-1968 in Central Butte, SK. After that he went to work for his father at Brownlee Farm Equipment until he took it over in 1978 with his brother David. Edwin carried on the tradition of Brownlee Farm Equipment from when it first opened in 1930 by his grandfather Claire, spanning 3 generations of Kettlewells, for a duration of 87 years. Edwin retired in 2017 after owning Brownlee Farm Equipment for just shy of 40 years. He was known far and wide and was well respected in the community as well as in the agriculture industry. Edwin’s favourite past times included fishing, hunting, ski-dooing, restoring cars, attending car races, spending time at the lake with his family, and his happy hours at the new shop with friends. He was an amazing human being and his influence was felt throughout the community and region. The sight of him driving his truck around checking crops will be missed, as well as his brutally honest free advice. A Celebration of Edwin’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 22nd, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hillcrest Apostolic Church, 1550 Main St N, Moose Jaw, SK and will be officiated by our dear family friend Cheryl Thul, with a time of fellowship to follow. Those not able to attend may view the service virtually by going to https://youtube.com/live/ovkBSHZ42w0. A final happy hour in honour of Edwin will be held from 4:00-8:30 p.m. at the Heritage Inn. Please think of your favourite memories or stories about Edwin and share them with us that day. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Shirley, Kimberley, Shelly, Lindsey and families. So very sad to hear of the loss of husband, Dad and Grandpa Edwin way too soon. My sincere sympathy to you all.
Deepest condolences to the Kettlewell family.
Edwin will be missed.
Most sincere condolences to all Edwin’s family. A great gentleman to deal with, no gimmicks just a straight honest deal. Only bought a few pieces of equipment from him. Always great to deal with. Rest in Peace. The world needs more people like him.
Our deepest condolences to all of Edwin’s family. We dealt with Edwin for many, many years buying parts and occasionally equipment. Edwin was great to deal with. He always had the parts we needed in stock. And if we phoned up near the end of the work day, he would leave the part out by the door. And often there were several parts at the door waiting for other farmers to pick up so we could all get back into the fields as quickly as possible. And occasionally if someone was coming into MJ he would send it down and we could pick up the part somewhere in the city. When Clayton and Clint were fixing and couldn’t figure out what to do, Clayton would call Edwin. Even after Edwin retired. Edwin always told Clayton exactly and concisely what he needed to do. And he was never wrong. Edwin knew every square inch of a Massey combine. And one time he told Clint that he should fix a certain thing because “his Dad was too rammy”! Edwin gave over 40 years of excellent customer service. He will be greatly missed. Rest easy, Edwin!
Our deepest sympathy to Shirley,Kimberley,Shelly and Lindsey. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Edwin will be deeply missed by all who new him. Rest in peace Edwin.

I am sorry to only recently have heard of Edwin’s passing. My father Dave Sr dealt with Brownlee Farm Equipment for many years as did I when I started farming in 1977. I bought my first tractors, discers, tillage equipment and a few combines from Edwin. I never questioned the deals he offered and I was grateful for and often amazed by the service and parts support after the sale. Edwin taught me how to set a gang of discers and how to adjust a combine for maximum performance. He and his team never let us down.
When the season slowed down each fall he often kept us spellbound over a cup of coffee in the shop with his hunting and fishing stories.
Our condolences to Shirley and family. Find comfort in knowing Edwin made the world a better place for all who knew him.
