SHIRLEY IONE KELLINGTON (née Campbell)
August 27th, 1930 – June 19th, 2016
Shirley passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 20th, 2016. She was predeceased by her parents, Donald and Ethel; husband, Norman; and son, Blaine. Shirley is survived by her son, Donald (Grenda); daughter, Shauna (Doug) and their children Trevor (Kim) and their son Luke, and Nicole (Robin); Blaine’s family: Blair (Tanya) and their daughter Victoria, Devan (Magali) and their sons Cody and Deegan, and Blaine’s wife, Deanna; as well as many dear friends. Shirley was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was also a wonderful friend who loved to play cards, especially bridge. In spite of the many difficulties she encountered in her later years, she remained cheerful, upbeat and optimistic. She loved to cook and had a huge cookbook collection. She spent many hours reading them and you would often find them around a chair, bed, or on the coffee table. When her eyesight failed her that was one of the many things she missed. Shirley was a long-time member of the Eastern Star. She was also a member at St. Andrew’s Church and had contributed many a pie to their Pie Socials in the past. Shirley graduated as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse and worked as a nurse in Weyburn, Valley View Center, and in Moose Jaw Home Care as a part of the assessment team prior to her retirement. After Norm passed away, she opened her home to boarding students from SIAST and she cooked up a storm for them. When Shirley moved into Langdon Towers, she made many new friends and enjoyed the years she was there. The family would like to thank Dr. Rininsland and his staff and colleagues for the wonderful care she received. She always felt safe and cared for by you. We would also like to thank the EMS services for the many trips you made with Mom, and also to the staff at the Emergency/Ambulatory care department who took such good care of her each and every time. Thanks also goes out to the Home Care team that were in to see her these last few months as well. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 27th, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Reverend Jim Tenford will officiate and interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Shirley’s name may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, Unit 26 – 1738 Quebec Ave, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9 or The Canadian National Institute for the Blind, 2550 Broad St, Regina, SK S4P 3Z4.
