EDWARD WILFRED KEEN
July 30th, 1942 – January 29th, 2025
Edward Wilfred Keen, born in Reliance, SK on July 30th, 1942, passed away peacefully in Moose Jaw, SK on Wednesday, January 29th, 2025. Ed grew up on a farm in Mankota, SK and went on to enjoy several different types of work in Mankota, Wolseley, and Moose Jaw. He spent time working at the Credit Union, selling insurance, 15 Wing Air Base, and the Co-op in Moose Jaw. Following Ed’s retirement, he discovered a love for wood working and spent many hours making cabinets, toys, dressers, jewelry boxes, and any other items that people requested.
Ed loved to be around people and family and was known for his love of food. He had a great sense of humor and many sayings and phrases that endeared him to all that knew him. He enjoyed watching baseball, especially the Blue Jays, and curling.
He was predeceased by his parents, Felix and Philipina Keen; his first wife and mother of his children, Sheila Keen; his second wife, Elsie Guild; and sisters-in-law, Betty Keen and Sherry Keen. Ed is survived by his son, Kerry Keen (Elaine Raivio) of Calgary, AB; Kerry’s son, Jake (Jacqui) Vandermeer and their children Camilla and Leo of Kelowna, BC; daughter, Leanne (Greg) Schutte of Moose Jaw; Leanne’s children, Chris Keen of Nicaragua, his son Zack Keen and Zack’s mother Sarah Howe of Moose Jaw, and Megan Mellquist of Regina, SK, her daughter Capri and Vaughan Mellquist of Calgary, AB. Ed also had bonus grandchildren, Zach and Ashlyn Schutte, and Alex and Nicole Raivio. Ed is survived by his wife, Maxine Pomedli of Moose Jaw and her children Douglas, Susan, and David. Ed is survived by his siblings: Kay (Lou) Karpick of Lethbridge, AB, Joe (Carol) Keen of Claresholm, AB, and Mike (Linda) Keen of Moose Jaw; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family is sincerely thankful for the excellent, compassionate care Ed received from the care staff and recreation department at Pioneer Lodge in Moose Jaw.
A Celebration of Ed’s Life will be held on Friday, February 7th, 2025 at Moose Jaw Funeral Home, with a Time of Visitation taking place prior to the service from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Those not able to attend may view the service by going to www.moosejawfuneralhome.com/webcast/. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ed’s name may be made to the Diabetes Canada, 1300-522 University Ave, Toronto, ON M5G 2R5 or the Alzheimer Society, 2550 12th Ave, Regina, SK S4P 3X1. Megan and Capri, we are very sorry to hear about your grandpa and great grandpa. It’s so hard to lose a grandparent. Hold onto each other tight and remember the special times you shared and the memories made, as they will help you get you through this sad time.

I remember your dad very well, he wrapped groceries at the Co-op while I worked there. Than later on I visited with him at Pioneer Lodge when I visited my husband. I am sure you have been left with many memories.
