Madeleine Audrey Kautz
Madeleine Audrey Kautz passed away on Saturday, December 21st, 2013 after a brief battle with cancer. She died peacefully at home with her family at her bedside. She was born in Winnipeg, the oldest of 7 children, to Milton and Margaret LaBrosse. In 1947 she married Harry Kautz. Seven children were born to this union. In 1965, after the birth of her last child who was born with physical disabilities, Madeleine took her nurses training. In addition to caring for her daughter, Madeleine worked at St. Boniface Hospital for many years. Madeleine and Harry divorced in 1978. Her daughter passed away in 2001 leaving days long and lonely for Madeleine. In 2004 she moved out to Saskatchewan, living most of that time with her oldest son, Jim and his family, but was also at The Bentley in Moose Jaw for some time. She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Don and Ray; her sisters, Irene and Joyce; her daughter, Margo; and ex-husband, Harry. Madeleine is survived by her sisters, Lynn and Loretta; her sons, Jim (Kathy), Doug (Lynn), Ken, Andrew, Brien (Bev); and daughter, Emily (Wayne) Buckle; 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. We wish to express sincere thanks to the wonderful Moose Jaw homecare and palliative care staff for their support to the family during her last days. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
