Lawrence Karst
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lawrence on Monday, January 26th, 2009 at the age of 65, after a two year battle with cancer. Lawrence was born July 29th, 1943 in Assiniboia, SK. He was predeceased by his father Carl and brothers Barry and Lionel. Lawrence is survived by his mother Margaret and his loving wife Elsie, son Randy (Coreen),and two grandchildren Reid and Taylor of Fort Saskatchewan, Alta; daughter Alison (Patrick) of the Battlefords, brothers Alvin(Laverne) of Assiniboia, Merv(Gail) of Belle Plain, sister Janice (Lyle) Erfle, sister-in-law Carolyn Karst of Assiniboia, numerous nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends. Lorne grew up in the Scout Lake area. After completing high school at Campion College in Regina he became an Apprentice Electrician. In 1966 he married Elsie Kessler and they later took over the family farm, where they remained until retirement to Moose Jaw in 2006. Lorne enjoyed going to Rider games, fishing trips, watching hockey and the weather network. Lorne was admired and well respected by everyone who met him. Prayer Service will be held on Thursday, January 29th, 2009 at 7:00pm in Moose Jaw Funeral Home (268 Mulberry Lane). Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 3rd Avenue NW, Moose Jaw on Friday, January 30th, 2009 at 2:00pm with Father Francis Kurisinkal (Father Prince) as Celebrant. Memorials may be made to the Regina Palliative Care Inc, 4F-4101 Dewdney Ave, Regina, Sk S4T 1A5 or the Masses in honor of Lawrence Karst.
