CALVIN JAMES JORSTAD
It is with a mix of sadness and joy in a life well lived that we share the passing of our adventurous husband, son, father, brother, friend, and papa, Calvin James Jorstad in the early morning of Sunday, February 11th, 2024.
He was predeceased by his father, Orland. Calvin will be missed by his bride, Holly; daughter, Shelly (Ryan); beloved granddaughter, Elodie; son, Curtis (Steven); mother, Margaret; brother, Rod (Cheryl); sister, Rhonda (Scott) and family Samantha (Josh – Esme, Adelaide, Isabell), Jillana (Adam – Juniper), Chelsea (Trevor – Aurora), Zoë (Kyle); brother, Bill (Louisa) and family Reanna (Nick – Rowyn) and Jared; as well as many more family and friends.
Calvin was born May 17th, 1957, in Moose Jaw, SK and grew up on the family farm. He attended both Lindale School and Peacock Technical High School. Later, Calvin attended Kelsey Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences for 2 years of Farm Machinery Mechanics where he made a group of life-long friends.
Calvin married his bride and the love of his life, Holly, in October of 1980. They built a beautiful life together, raising their own family on the family farm. They lived a very busy life supporting their kids in their activities, always active and involved with their family and community.
In 1987, Calvin earned his pilots license and promised his dad he would never spray crops! He and Holly joined the Flying Farmers and travelled often with this community.
Calvin served on a great many councils and boards over the years. Farming was in his blood, and Calvin was happiest either in the dirt or in the sky.
In 2015, Calvin became the Honorary Colonel at 2CFFTS at 15 Wing Moose Jaw until 2019. This quickly became an amazing opportunity for Calvin in a community he loved.
Calvin and Holly’s greatest joy in life became real when they became grandparents. They also enjoyed spending their winters between Texas and Arizona.
As a family, we are so proud of the man Calvin became – what he stood for, what he accomplished and experienced, how he lived so fully.
The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 17th, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Hanger 3 – 15 Wing Moose Jaw. Maps to the Hanger are attached for directions. There is no need to stop at the gate, just proceed as per the directions. A come and go visit will follow at the Moose Jaw Shrine Club, 1767 Main St N, Moose Jaw, SK. As an expression of sympathy, donation in Calvin’s name may be made to the WaWa Patient Travel Fund c/o Moose Jaw Shrine Club, 1767 Main St N, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1L6. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Michelle Ellis, Funeral Director 306-693-4550

Dear Holly and family, I’m really sorry to hear of Cal’s passing. My family was so fortunate to get to know Cal and Holly in the 80s or 90s through Cal’s uncle, Willand O. (George) Jorstad, one of the last true California gold prospectors and a close family friend since the 50s. Driving from Mineapolis to San Francisco in 1993, I stopped off in Moose Jaw and spent 3 days getting to know Cal, seeing his love of the land, the affection and respect his neighbors had for him, very apparent ata wedding he and Holly took me to in a nearby town, and appreciating his wisdom. My family and I will miss him.
Holly we are so very sad to hear of Cal’s passing. Our deepest condolences to you, Shelly, Curtis and their families. Gone too soon. Wendell and Marie Andrews

Dear Holly & family, Rod & Cheryl, Rhonda & family,
We are very sorry to hear about Cal’s passing. I met Cal through my friend, Ed Dunham. The Kelsey crew also included Terry and Phil among others. Since we moved to Craik in 1990, we have done most of our shopping in Moose Jaw, so we have had the pleasure of running into Cal fairly often over the years. Always fun to visit with and have a good laugh. Our daughter is a chef at 15 Wing. We are very happy that she got to meet Cal. Please accept our condolences.
Holly and family, we are so broken hearted for you. We loved the times we got to visit with Cal and you, Holly, and will never forget the fun and hospitality you showed us on our airtour, “ the hop” when we flew across Canada to your farm, with the Montana Antique Aircraft Association. The best hop we ever went on! We always love seeing you two at some aviation conferences also. It eill be sad to not see Cal here on earth, but know we will fly together again in Heaven. God be with you all, and give you that assurance and peace.
Love, Jamee and Evert
Condolences to Holly and family.
May you find comfort at this time.

I would like to send our condolences to Holly and the family on Cal’s passing. Would also send condolences to all his very close friends, I know they all had a very special bond. I was a classmate with Cal at Kelsey and although life’s roads did not allow us to be in contact, he was one of those guys that left everyone feeling his friendship. Will always remember his quick wit, chuckle and made the classroom never boring.
Rest well Cal
