Frederick Russell Johnson
April 21st, 1933 – March 14th, 2009
Fred passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his home on his beloved ranch in the Crestwynd hills. He worked various jobs as a young man from construction to ranch hand finally taking over the family ranch in 1958. Fred was known for his great throwing arm in baseball, his rank range cattle and raising quarter horses that he couldn’t seem to part with, his wild west branding and round-ups. Fred’s first love was his family. Second was the many get- togethers with friends playing music. He was well known for his guitar playing and singing. Fred was also past-president, long time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and councilor for the RM of Baildon for 4 years. He was predeceased by his parents Clarence (Choppy) and Edythe ; brother Jack; daughter Jolie; and brother-in-law Elvin Clark. Fred is survived by his wife Pam; daughter Darcy (Trevor) Johnson and children Kris, Joceyln, Amanda, Tania Johnson; son Braydon; son Kevin and his children Kennedi and Kolton all of Moose Jaw and area; Jill(Shane) Henrotte and children Jordon and Jayme; sisters Maida (Barry) Fysh of Moose Jaw and Mona Clark of Calgary; brother Bill (Thelma) Johnson of Moose Jaw; sister-in-law Esther Johnson (Sid) of Moose Jaw; mother-in-law Marg Hunt of Moose Jaw; sister and brother-in-law Deb & Wayne Wilk of Moose Jaw; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Following a Private Family Graveside Service a Celebration of Fred’s Life will be held at the Eagles Hall, 561 Home Street West from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20th, 2009. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Fred’s name to the Palliative Care Program, Moose Jaw Union Hospital, 455 Fairford St. East, Moose Jaw, Sask. S6H 1H3.
