Darol Joel
Darol Joel, age 63 passed away peacefully into his loving Saviour’s arms January 13, 2016 in Nanaimo, BC following a courageous battle with cancer. He was a kind, spiritual and peace-loving man who will be lovingly remembered by his partner, friends and family in Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia. Darol was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and grew up in the surrounding area of Loreburn. For many years, beginning in 1974, he worked as an auto insurance adjuster for SGI. As an active United Church member, Darol will be remembered for the countless hours he devoted to the United Churches and Anglican Church in Moose Jaw. He served tirelessly as a choir member, excellent tenor soloist, worship committee chair, and delivered much appreciated inspirational sermons through his pulpit supply ministry. Darol is survived by his mother, Mildred Joel; partner, Arnie Korns; daughters, Heather (Cecil) Armistead and Erin (Harley) Ulmer. He was a proud and caring grandfather to Lily and Violet Armistead, and to Aiden, Anna, and Adam Ulmer. Also surviving are his brothers, Lyle (Lana) and Jerry Joel; sisters, Linda Joel Baird (Kirk) and Jane Borycki (Gordon); and by his closest friend, Bruce Learmonth. He was predeceased by his father, John Joel and sister-in-law, Lana.
