JANSON, GUSTAV WILHELM (BILL)
Heaven has gained a beautiful angel! Our dear dad, grandpa and great-grandpa Bill, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 5th, 2015 at the age of 97 years and 4 months. Dad taught us all to live life to its fullest and always to look at life with a positive attitude and sense of humour. He could make the best of the worst situations just by looking for the positives. He was loved by all who knew him. Dad was born on the farm at Lafleche, SK on October 27th, 1917. His father died when he was two and he was raised by his mother and five older sisters. Dad worked at various jobs around Lafleche until duty called and he enlisted in the RCAF during WWII. He served as a flight engineer and his squadron completed all of their 32 sorties. After the war, dad stayed on with DND as a motor mechanic until his retirement in 1982. He married Vivian Allen in 1947 and they had one daughter, Diane. Bill loved spending time with his family most of all, but also enjoyed travelling with Vivian, curling, golfing, playing cards and his beloved Saskatchewan Roughriders. He was a Royal Canadian Legion member for over 55 years, and just this last fall helped Diane sell poppies on Poppy Day. Dad lived in Regina until 2010, at which time he moved to Moose Jaw into the Mulberry Estates to be closer to his family. After suffering a stroke, which took his vision, in November 2014, Dad moved into Extendicare Moose Jaw where he resided until his passing. He was predeceased by his parents; 5 older sisters; and his wife, Vivian in 2001. Bill is survived by his daughter, Diane and son-in-law, Ron Bruck of Moose Jaw, SK; grandson, Ryan (Sharnell) Bruck of Saskatoon, SK; grandson, Darrin (Colette) Bruck of Calgary, AB; great-grandchildren: Aidan and Owen Bruck of Saskatoon, and Lilly and Senia Bruck of Calgary; and his nieces and nephews: Owen, Gary, Gail, Sharon, Butch and Pamela. He also leaves his best canine buddy, Abbey Gail. In keeping with Bill’s wishes, no Funeral Service will be held. A private family interment will take place at a later date, followed by a social, at which time Dad can buy everyone a beer! Our sincere thanks go out to Dr. Rininsland, Dr. Dautremont, the staff of Moose Jaw Union Hospital and Providence Place G.A.R.U. Special thanks go out to the fabulous nurses, staff and care givers at Extendicare Moose Jaw. The family asks for no flowers, but as an expression of sympathy donations may be made in Bill’s name to The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #59 Poppy Fund, 268 High St W, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1S8. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Gary McDowell, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
