Nelson Frederick Ireland
With sadness, we announce the passing of Nelson Frederick Ireland at The Bentley retirement home in Moose Jaw, SK. He left us on Sunday, January 22nd, 2017 at the age of 77 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Harvey and Edythe Ireland. Nelson will be lovingly remembered by his brother, Bryan (Diana) of Moose Jaw and their children: Brenda (Alan) Wallace and their children Veronica and Eric of Saskatoon, SK, and James (Kelly MacMillan) of Sherwood Park, AB. Nelson was born in Mazenod, SK on April 12th, 1939. He grew up on the family farm in the Mossbank area. Nelson had a few jobs he enjoyed off the family farm, including the Department of Highways and Mossbank Motors (John Deere garage) in Mossbank. He took over the family farm in 1976, and continued to farm until he retired in 2004 and moved to Moose Jaw. Nelson was very mechanically inclined. He would tackle all problems with full commitment to make the machine or device work better than new. He loved working in his shop. Nelson was generous with his time and very much enjoyed long lunches with his friends at the restaurant in Mossbank. He was an avid reader, snowmobiler and motorcyclist. His sharp mind, curiosity and humour endeared him to the family and he was affectionately known simply as “Uncle”. There will be no Funeral Service held and interment will take place at Mossbank Cemetery in the spring. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Nelson’s name may be made to The Canadian Diabetes Association, 917A Albert St, Regina, SK S4R 2P6. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Todd Sjoberg, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
