Frances Leona Humphrey (Hansford)

It is with much sadness and fond memories that we announce the passing of our wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Frances Leona Humphrey (Hansford), on the morning of Monday, January 9th, 2017.  Fran was born on February 5th, 1922 to Isaac and Leona Hansford.  She grew up in Bateman, SK and moved to Moose Jaw where she attended Business College.  She worked as a bookkeeper for many years.  Fran was very active in her church community, enjoyed square dancing and playing bridge in the early years of married life.  She was an avid curler during the winters and a lawn bowler during the summers, bringing home quite a number of trophies.  Over the years she loved the many dogs and cats that called her place home, and she especially enjoyed gardening and working in her yard during warm summer days.  She took a keen interest in the news of the day and enjoyed her travels throughout Canada, the USA, Mexico and Cuba with her children and grandchildren.  Predeceased by her husband, Bill and their baby daughter, Margaret, and sisters, Irene Lightbody and Vera Astleford, Fran will be remembered and lovingly missed by her children, Lorraine Coulman (Bruce) and Ken Humphrey (Brenda); her grandchildren: Karen Coulman (Nic  Couronneau), Kevin Coulman, Trevor Coulman (Maya Tang), Christine Fischer (John), Courtney Waldenberg, and Brady Waldenberg (Maegen); and her great-grandchildren: Sophie and Elliott Coulman-Couronneau, Katie and Shontaye Waldenberg, Charlie Waldenberg and Grace Fischer.  In keeping with Fran’s wishes, a Private Family Service will be held.  Flowers are gratefully declined.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in Fran’s name may be made to The Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658 Station Main, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Gary McDowell, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
