Monica Grace Huber
Monica Grace Huber, born November 17th, 1924, passed away on Sunday, January 22nd, 2012 at Extendicare with her family by her side. The Memorial Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 26th, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Reverend Doug Shepherd will officiate and interment will take place at a later date in Assiniboia Cemetery. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; her parents, Susie and Neil McLafferty; her brothers: Pat and his wife Norma, Robert, Jackie and his wife Lil, and Neil (Micky) and his wife Mary; her sister, Marge and her husband Jack Thompson; brother-in-law, Max Greer; her mother and father-in-law, Beatrice and Joe Huber; brother-in-law, Albert and his wife Frieda Huber; sister-in-law, Delorus Huber; sister-in-law, Julia and her husband Art Walters; sister-in-law, Mary and her husband Syd Clampitt; sister-in-law, Em and her husband Steve Wagner; sister-in-law, Olga Timmerman; and sister-in-law, Joanne and her husband Joe Timmerman. Monica is survived by her daughters: Marjorie (Dave) Wilson and their children Clayton and his son Dylan, Lana (Tim) Keating and their children Nathan, Callum and Kyla, Veronica (Stan) Bueckert and their children Alexi and Aiden, and Cameron and his son Jace; Susan (Brad) Marks and their children Chad (Tanya) and their son Kyle, and Tanya (Mike) Gilroy and their son Jonathon; sister Lorraine Greer; sister-in-law, Evelyn McLafferty; brother-in-law, John and his wife Gladys Huber; brother-in-law Gus and his wife Muriel Huber; and many nieces and nephews. During her youth, Monie was raised in Secretan, Boharm and Parkbeg. After graduating High School, she moved to Moose Jaw and attended Normal School. She got her first teaching position in Melaval where she met her husband Joe. They were married on August 7th, 1946 in Moose Jaw. Joe’s work with the CPR took them to Abound, then to Holonquist, then Meyronne, and with their daughters, moved to Grainland, then Bishopric and settled in Chaplin in 1956. After Joe retired from the CPR, they went on numerous tours of North America. They remained in Chaplin until 1983 and then moved to Assiniboia. After Joe passed away in 1988, Monie moved to Moose Jaw. Monie was an avid curler. She enjoyed golf, baseball and football, and she always talked about being at the Brier and the Grey Cup game, and watching her beloved Blue Jays play in Minneapolis – attending these events into her late seventies! She was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxillary. She felt strong about her heritage, having many momentos. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren and her many friends. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.
