John William Huber
John William Huber of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan passed away on Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009 at the age of 81 years. The Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, September 8th, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Rev. Doug Shepherd will officiate and burial will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. A Time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 5th, 2009 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. John was born to Christian and Bertha Huber, on June 23rd, 1928 on the farm at Briercrest. In 1955, John began working in the city during the summer months, returning home to work on the farm for the winter. On December 19th, 1959 he married Gwendolyn Ross, and together they raised three daughters. John worked for various construction companies – Tracey, Bird, Hagbloom and Banilevic. In 1975 he started working at Valley View Centre, retiring in June of 1993 after more than 17 years of service. John enjoyed his horses and going to farm auctions and other sales. He liked to work in his garden and go to the mall for coffee. Gwen and John enjoyed travelling. Three years ago when John began his kidney dialysis, their travelling came to an end. John was predeceased by his parents Bertha and Chris, his sister Anne, brother Harold, in-laws Dave and Inez Ross, James Ross, and Isabella Hunt. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Gwen of nearly 50 years; his daughters Cheryl Peters, Heather (Barry) Lough and Betty Huber; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 brothers Alfred and Fred; 8 sisters Rose, Pearl, Irene, Freda, Margie, Kay, Doreen and Marie; several neices and nephews; 2 sisters-in-law Dorothy Morris and Ella Ross; and 2 brothers-in-law Bob Ross and Evan Ross. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John may be made to the Moose Jaw Union Hospital – Kidney Dialysis Unit, 455 Fairford St. East, Moose Jaw, Sask. S6H 1H3.
