Gertrude Hermine Hove
Gertrude Hermine Hove went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Sunday, May 21st, 2017 at the age of 90 years. She was born on August 30th, 1926 on the family farm near Strasbourg, SK. Growing up during the “poor years” taught Gertrude the importance of community, perseverance and faith. She lived her life with compassion for others and appreciation for blessings great and small. After teacher training at “Normal School” in Regina, Gertrude taught grades 1 to 8 in one room school houses in Bulyea and Raymore, and later at Westmount School in Moose Jaw. Gertrude met the love of her life, Raymond, after his return from World War II. They married in 1952 and moved to Moose Jaw in 1954. Gertrude was completely devoted to Raymond and in the end, could not live without him. Over their nearly 64 years together they were active in their community and church, raised their family with love and generosity, and were good friends to many. Music was always part of Gertrude’s life and she loved playing hymns on the piano at home or leading the congregation on the organ at church. She was predeceased by her parents, David and Erna Weimer; and her husband, Raymond. Gertrude is survived, and will be deeply missed, by her sister, Elizabeth Polder of Burnaby, BC (Levi); her son, Wayne (Janet); her daughter, Ingrid Gust (Greg); grandchildren: Nissa (Joseph), Jesse (Deanna), Rebekah (George), Kirsten and Kelsea; great-grandchildren: Kaleb, Oakley, Lilia and Lia; nieces, Catherine and Bronwyn; and nephew, Mark (Meagan). The family express their deepest thanks to the staff of Pioneers Lodge and to Dr. Rininsland for their compassionate care. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 27th, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in Central Lutheran Church, 27 Hochelaga St, Moose Jaw, SK.
