Lois Houseman
On February 17, 2010, Lois Houseman passed away peacefully at her home in Calgary. Lois is survived by her children, daughter Glenna (Dave) McDonald of Calgary and son Drs. Ross(Lorna) Houseman of Saskatoon; grandchildren Alanna (Andrew) and Margaux McDonald and Gary and Natalie Houseman; great-grandchildren Kadence and Kristian Houseman; and by her brother Rae (Joan) Murdock of Saskatoon; sister-in-law Irene Murdock of Central Butte; as well as many nieces and nephews. Lois is also survived by her extended family, Harry and Anita Toews of Regina and daughters Corinne, Paula, Angela and families. Lois was predeceased by her husband, Walt, in 2001, as well as by her parents, John and Violet Murdock, and brothers Cam Murdock and Jim Murdock. Lois was born on December 25, 1919 on the family homestead in the Mawer district of Saskatchewan. After meeting her life partner, Lois became a full-time homemaker and embraced her role as the heart of her family. She and Walt lived in several Saskatchewan cities during their fifty-nine years of marriage and Lois recently moved to Calgary to be closer to family. Lois’s life will be honoured at a service to be held on Friday, February 26, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Ave., Regina with Rev. Jim Balfour officiating. Private family interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lois’s memory may be made to the Lung Association of Saskatchewan, 1231 – 8th Street East, Saskatoon, SK S7H 0S5.
