Michael William Hoshowsky
Michael William Hoshowsky, aged 76 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away Saturday, October 22nd, 2011. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 29th, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, south of Hodgeville, SK. Father Yurij Lazurko will be the presiding celebrant and interment will take place in St. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. Mike was born in Vanguard, SK where he went to school, then went to University to become a pharmacist. He worked in Moose Jaw, Swift Current, Assiniboia and Melfort. When his father died, Mike moved into the house that his parents built in Moose Jaw to be with his mother and he worked in Moose Jaw as a pharmacist. After his mother passed away, Mike stayed in the house and quietly worked in the yard and garden growing huge cabbages, carrots, peas and beets and he visited us, bringing bags of his vegetables. One year, his sister Anne gave him a few sunflower seeds, which he planted. The sunflower grew real tall, with the flowers the size of dinner plates. Someone from the newspaper took a picture of it and, along with a small article, published it in their paper. The last few years, Mike’s health deteriorated and he moved to a nursing home. Mike felt the house which his dad built had roots in his life, so he sold it to a cousin who too is a pharmacist. Donations in Mike’s name may be made to St. Peter & Paul Cemetery Fund, Box 31, Glen Bain, SK S0N 0X0.
