Ronald Horsnall (R.D.)
July 22nd, 1933 – March 10th, 2009
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle. Ronald’s golden heart stopped beating after suffering a massive heart attack on March 10th, 2009. He was surrounded by his loving family. A Private Family Funeral Service will be held. Family and friends are invited to a time of fellowship on Friday, March 13th, 2009 from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. in the Harvey Room at Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Ron was predeceased by his mother Rita Horsnall, father Herbert Horsnall, his brother Clarence and brother-in-law Tom Boothman. He is survived by his wife Dorothy(Sally); his children Rodney (Terry), Gwen (Tom), Cheryl (Dennis), Kevin (Nicole), Jeannine (Rick) and Jeff; “Cleo” his precious little dog; 16 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; his brother Wayne (Doreen); his sister Donna, his mother-in-law Katherine Silzer; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ronald was born July 22nd, 1933 in Moose Jaw. He apprenticed at Western Press from 1947 to 1952, was in the Army Reserve from 1951 to 1953 and began his career as a wiper with the CPR in August of 1952. Ronald was promoted to fireman in 1955 and in 1962 to Engineer. He retired from the passenger trains on January 14th, 1990. During the slow economic times he started Ron’s Old English Fish n Chip Shop and kept very busy for seven years. In retirement Ron spent many enjoyable hours racing pigeons and caring for his yard in the city and at their lake property. Another one of Ron’s greatest passions was visiting all his friends at the Co-op and the mall buying lotto tickets and handing out candy along with B.S. quite freely. Ron was very interested in Civic Affairs which caused some “Printer Issues” at the “Letters to the Editor” department at The Moose Jaw Times Herald. In lieu of flowers donations in Ron’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, Sask. S6H 2M2. and/or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Sask., 279 3rd Ave. N., Saskatoon, Sk., S7K 2H8.
