Coral (Malty) Hodgins
Coral (Malty) Hodgins passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 12th, 2014 with her family by her side. Malty was born at Courval, SK on September 15th, 1915, later moving to the Edgehill District south of Parkbeg. She married Haldon Hodgins on November 7th, 1938 in a double ceremony with her sister Ruth and Lawrence Hicks. Mom and Dad farmed at Mortlach before their final move to Moose Jaw in 2003. She was predeceased by her husband in 2009; sisters: Eseal Felt, Agnes Rogers, Vina Beaman, Mabel Colenutt and Ruth Hicks; and brother, John Smith; sisters-in-law: Barbara Smith, Helen Rennie, Shirley Guenther; and brothers-in-law: Gerry Rennie, Lennie MacDonald, Cec Sorenson, Gerald Hall, Norman Orcheson, Bob Felt, Ben Rogers, Everett Beaman, Roy Colenutt and Lawrence Hicks. Malty will be sadly missed by her daughters, Joan (Garry) Holbrook and Carolyn (Russ) Ayerst; and son, Terry (Heather) Hodgins. Also to mourn are her grandchildren: Mark Holbrook, Lee (Leanne) Holbrook, Shelley (Andrew) Beddow, Coral (Damon Edis) Ayerst, Sara (Robin) Wiens, Kelly (Aaron) Woods and Lindsay (Jason) Van Huizen. Mom had twelve great-grandchildren: Chase, Tylan, Orran, Oliver, Elliott, Erin, Dylan, Ronan, Sylvie, Ilse, Iona and Vaughn. Malty is also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law: Stan and Pat Hodgins, Bud Guenther, Evelyn Orcheson, Gladys MacDonald, Doris Hall and Inez Sorenson; as well as many nieces and nephews. We are grateful for the exceptional love and care Mom received from the staff at Extendicare, her home and extended family for the past two and a half years. Mom saw good in people and considered herself fortunate to have lived such a long and enjoyable life. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and acquaintances. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 18th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Minto United Church, 1036 7th Ave. N.W., Moose Jaw, SK. Reverend Jim Tenford and Reverend Lynette Miller will officiate and interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, her family would ask that you consider a donation to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 917A Albert St., Regina, SK S4R 2P6.
