Muriel is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Douglas Hill. They were blessed with five children: Brian Hill (Marilyn) (on the farm at Boharm) and their children Amy (Troy) Sharpe and Dylan (Calgary), Graham (Caitlin) and their two girls Ellie and Isla (Saskatoon), and Christie Hill (Saskatoon); Christine Hill and her three girls Alissa (Chris) Olfert and Leila (Regina), Jocelyn (Matt) Sagal (Moose Jaw), Emily Sagal (Calgary) and their dad Stan Sagal; Burleigh (Shelley) Hill and their three children Ryan (Taryn) (Calgary), Bobby (Lindsay) (Saskatoon), and Tessa (Regina); Diane (Ian) Riendeau and their five children Wylie, Maisie (Colby), Sadie, Annie and Wyatt all of Boharm. Muriel’s siblings supplied a never ending pride and joy to her life. Sisters Lil (Pete), Marj (Red), Annie (Mel), Kay (Aurel), Donna (Freddie), Dorothy (Mitch), Gerry (Don), brother Art, brother-in-law Eddie and their families were a treasured part of mom’s life. Muriel is also survived by her in-laws, Don (Marg) Hill, Gord (Mary) Hill, Bob (Robbie) Hill; and numerous nieces and nephews. Muriel often spoke of the many fond memories, fun and friendships made back home while attending Ranch School. Her first job was working at Con’s Corner for the Walz family then moving to Boharm to work at F.W. Cavanagh’s General Store and there she met the love of her life, Douglas Hill. Muriel would always say that she was born in the hills, loved the hills and married a Hill. They were married on October 4th, 1950 at Boharm United Church. Muriel was her happiest when being of service to others, particularly to her family: cooking amazing meals, sewing, knitting, babysitting and following her husband, children and grandchildren around to their various events. Muriel also enjoyed curling in the Emerald League with her sister-in-law Marg. Her greatest passion was her family and she treasured the time spent together. Muriel enjoyed volunteering in and around the Boharm District as a member of the UCW, Boharm United Church and Minto United Church. Muriel actively canvassed for the Heart & Stroke, Cancer and Diabetes Associations. She also participated in the ABC 4H Home Craft Club by teaching sewing and knitting. Muriel and Doug worked hard together on the farm. Mom especially loved planting and tending her huge garden to provide for their family and many others. Muriel and Doug loved their home in Boharm but, decided it was time to move into town where they spent a year together at the Bentley. Mom spent her remaining 2 ½ years at Extendicare due to her failing health. The families would like to extend our thanks to the staff at Extendicare for the thoughtful care given to Muriel. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 3rd, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in Minto United Church, 1036 7th Ave. N.W., Moose Jaw, SK. Reverend John Carley will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Sask., 279 3rd Ave. N., Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8.
