Brian Herring
January 25th, 1952 – January 19th, 2011
It is with the heaviest of hearts and deep sorrow the family of Brian Herring announces his passing. Brian, fondly known as BH by his friends and neighbors, lived his entire life on the family farm near Mitchellton. He was the youngest of five children and enjoyed harassing his older siblings as a boy. He loved the farm and took great pride in his crops and animals. He believed in always helping his neighbors no matter what, even if it meant putting his own work off to another day. There was always time for a visit with friends. Complete strangers were seen more as friends he hadn’t met yet than anything else. Dad loved to play slow pitch and the ball tournament at Mitchellton each year was always a day he loved, rain or shine. Nothing mattered more to Brian than his family. He said his “girls” made his life special and he loved always being surrounded by beautiful women. He was the best father and husband and we will miss him deeply. Dad had a true faith. Throughout everything he faced, his faith never waivered once. He never asked “why me”, rather found blessings where many would have seen none. He loved his church family, in particular the children whom he prayed with every Sunday. Dad preached what he lived and lived what he preached. We would like to thank all our friends, family and neighbors for all the help over these trying months. In particular those who came to help with our harvest this fall. A special thank you to the caring staff on Memory Lane at Pioneer Lodge. Brian was predeceased by his parents, Maudie and Everett Herring and father-in-law, Charlie Box. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Cathy; the other two loves of his life, his daughters Allison and Amanda; siblings, John (Sharron) Herring, Jim (Jean) Herring, Carol (Phil) Richard and Janet (Brian) Nhering; mother-in-law, Shirley Box; sisters-in-law, Charlotte (Dave) Field and Kim Box; brother-in-law, Bruce (Shari) Box; along with numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Brian’s Life will be held on Monday, January 24th, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, Brian’s family has asked that donations be made to the Pasqua Hospital – Friends of 3B Cancer Wing, 4101 Dewdney Ave., Regina, SK. S4T 1A5.
