Virginia Helen Hemsworth
Virginia Helen, age 75 years, of Central Butte Saskathewan, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Monday, June 11 th, 2007 at the Regina General Hospital. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Kenneth Galloway of Central Butte, Sask.; daughters Wanda Hemsworth of Mississauga, Ont. and Lynda Hemsworth (Murray Donaghy) of Airdrie, Alta.; stepsons Scott Galloway of Central Butte, Sask. and Keith Galloway (Mary Ranahan) of Seattle, Wash.; aunts Pauline Sutton of Lindsay, Ont. and Nell Kubay of Toronto, Ont.; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Virginia was predeceased by her father Walter Kwichak (1965), 1 st husband Maurice Hemsworth (1970), mother Christine Kwichak (1996) and sister Mary Harris (2001). Virginia was born in Regina (November 27 th, 1931) and went to school in Grand Coulee, Regina and Girvin where she completed Grade 12 at 16 years of age. She attended Normal School in Moose Jaw, Sask. and a second year of Education at the University of Saskatchewan. prior to accepting a teaching position in Central Butte in 1951. She had been teaching private music lessons from the time she was approximately 16 years of age right up until her passing. In 1972, she became the Librarian of the Central Butte Branch of the Chinook Library which is actually housed in her home. She retired from this position in 2005 after 32 years of dedicated service. Virginia was very creative/artistic (eg. made Ukrainian Easter eggs until she lost her eye sight), a great musician and an avid reader, having taken great pride in everything she did. Her gentle nature and elegant manner will be missed. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 16 th, 2007 at 10:00 am at the Central Butte United Church with Dr. Donald Laing officiating. There will be a social gathering following the service at the Central Butte Seniors Hall. Donations in memory of Virginia may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
