LAURENCE CHARLES HEISLER
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Laurence on Tuesday, October 14th, 2014 with his family by his side. Laurence was 82 years and after a long battle with cancer, the angels took him back home to his parents and loved ones who were waiting for him. Larry was born on May 15th, 1932 at Qu’Appelle, SK. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter-in-law, Janice and beloved grandson, Seth; his parents, George and Mary Heisler; brothers: Earl, Leo and George; sisters: Evelyn Stadnick, Marie Reid, Vera MacDonald, Violet Walchuk and Loretta Donis. Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Jean; son, Laurence Jr.; daughters: Laurie (Grant) Duchak, Cynthia Hack, Susan (John) Chartier, Karen (Wayne) Colquhoun and Patricia (Kevin) Wale; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Christopher, Evan, Tristen, Stephen, Anthony, Kira, Hailey and Kim, Amanda (Colin), Ava, Michael, Thomas, Tracy, MacKenzie, Joseph, Emily, Gavin, Adam, Meagen (Chris), Tye, Nixon, Kamden, Sarah (Brian), Hannah, Jordan (Ashley), Joshua, Josey, Samantha and Crystal; brothers, Pat and Art (Irene); sister-in-law, Phyllis; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Larry attended Campion College and later worked in Yellowknife in the mines. He played hockey for Yellowknife and later on became a tailor and manager for Tip Top Tailors. He then became an engineer for the Dept. of Highways in Ontario and later in Saskatchewan. He obtained his chef papers at STI and worked for 25 years at the Prairie Oasis Restaurant. He was a long-standing member of St. Joseph’s Choir and a member of the Knights of Columbus. The Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 20th, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 3rd Ave NW, Moose Jaw, SK. Father Rick Krofchek will be the presiding celebrant and interment will take place in the family plot at Rosedale Cemetery. A Vigil Prayer Service will be held on Sunday, October 19th, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Larry’s name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre St, Regina, SK S4P 2R3 or to charity of one’s choice.
