Jacob Heckenlaible
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jacob Heckenlaible on Saturday, November 20th, 2010 at the age of 90. Jack will be missed by his beloved wife of 61 years, Phyllis; his son, Brian (Teresa); grandsons, Curtis and Craig Heckenlaible and Peter Dewan. He is also survived by 1 brother, Emanuel (Lil) of Calgary, AB.; 1 sister, Alice (Albert) of Strathmore, AB.; numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Jack was born in Fox Valley, SK. on April 30th, 1920. His younger years were spent on the family farm and he later joined the Canadian Army in 1942. Returning home, he met and married Phyllis (Haywood) in 1949. Together they moved to Moose Jaw and Jack started his career as a Steam Engineer with Husky Oil, where he remained for 14 years. He then continued at the Canadian Forces Base as the Water Services Operator until his retirement in 1985. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 26th, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in Central Lutheran Church, 27 Hochelaga St. W., Moose Jaw, SK. Pastor Bob Langdon will officiate and interment will follow in Rosedale Cemetery.
