Agnes Ellen Hart
It is with sad hearts that the family of Ellen Hart, bids farewell to our Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, who passed away on Saturday, February 27th, 2010 at the Regency Manor, with her sons by her side. Agnes Ellen Hart, was born on September 22nd, 1925 in Hafford, Saskatchewan to Margaret and Colin Ramsay. She grew up on the farm at Speers, Saskatchewan and went to Normal School in Saskatoon. Ellen began teaching at Green Briar, near Riverhurst. She married Roy Hart in 1947 and they resided in Beechy, Saskatchewan for 12 years. Their four children Howard, Rita, David and Dennis were all born there. The family moved to Riverhurst in 1958 and in 1962, Roy became the Postmaster, with Ellen as his assistant. When Roy retired in 1976, Ellen became the Postmaster and later retired in 1990. In 1995, she sold her house in Riverhurst and moved to Moose Jaw. In 1999 Ellen moved to Swift Current, where she resided until 2004, when she took up residence in the Central Butte Regency Manor. Ellen was predeceased by her parents; husband Roy; son Howard; daughter Rita; and great grandson Austin. She is survived by her sons David (Linda) and Dennis (Sherry); stepdaughter Marilyn Riendeau and family; grandchildren Trevor (Kelly), Travis (Kim), Vicki (Scott), Jeff, Dean (Tawnya); great grandchildren Jorja, Rowen, Ethan, Josie and Kiorra; her brothers Dennis (Trudy) and Stuart (Brenda); sisters Sybil (Norman) and Patricia; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ellen was a kind and gentle soul, with a twinkle in her eye, quick wit and a great sense of humour. She was a tiny little lady with a great inner strength and a heart of gold. Ellen loved her family dearly and would light up when anyone stopped in for a visit, always worrying “did you have something to eat?”. She loved to read and spent many hours with a novel in hand or catching up with the daily news in the papers. Ellen will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. A special “thank you” to the Regency Manor staff for their personal and extra special care for Ellen. A Celebration of Ellen’s Life will be held on Saturday, March 6th, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Pastor Doug Shepherd will officiate and burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ellen may be made to Central Butte Regency Manor, Central Butte, Sask. S0H 0T0.
