Ellen Loy Hanley
It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Ellen Loy Hanley (née: McMillan) at the age of 93 years on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2020. Loy was born on November 11th, 1926 and was predeceased by her parents, Lucille Norma (Correll) and Alexander McMillan; stepfather, Roderick MacEachern; husband, William (Bill) Hanley in 2011; sons, Rory Paul in 1982 and Kerry John in 2015. Loy is lovingly remembered by her surviving children: Patti (Neil) Zaph (Richmond Hill, ON), Rob (Denise) Hanley (Moose Jaw, SK), Dawna (Rory) Griffith (Kronau, SK) and Stacy (Shelly Shaw) Hanley (Calgary, AB). She was blessed with 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren: Colby (Lynda Fletcher) Zaph and children Aaliyah, Charlotte, Lucy and Luke (Aspendale, Australia), Casey (Sandy) Zaph and children Charlie and Maggie (Mississauga, ON), Brynn Griffith and children Emery and Lewis (Regina, SK), Callan Griffith (Regina, SK), Dylan (fiancé Jane Adarich) Hanley and Joshua Hanley (Calgary, AB).
Loy lived all her life in Moose Jaw and was a proud member of the SaskTel Pioneers and the CWL. She lived in the family home on Albert Street for over 50 years but her final two years were spent at Chez Nous Senior Citizens Home which, in her words, was “just great and couldn’t be better”. Thank you to all the special people there for keeping her safe and content during the Covid-19 pandemic.
In keeping with Loy’s request, a Catholic Funeral Mass will take place. A Celebration of Loy’s life and a Graveside Service will be scheduled for a future date.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital for all the care given to our mother.
Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Todd Sjoberg, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
