Betty Hamel
Betty passed away peacefully at home in the presence of her loving family, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Betty was born in Moose Jaw, Sask., on April 9, 1945 at the Providence Hospital. She grew up in Moose Jaw attending King Edward school and Riverview Collegiate. Betty met Bob at a dance that was held at the Temple Gardens. They married June 8, 1963. They had two children named Wendy and Todd. They then became proud and dedicated grandparents to Shyra and Kelsey. Betty worked for many years in the Moose Jaw Public School System. When she retired in 2005, Ross School established the Betty Hamel Spirit Award in her honour. Betty was a devoted caring person, spending many hours with friends and family. She always looked forward to car rides with Bob and visits from children and granddaughters. Betty was predeceased by her parents Elmer and Flo Lightle, her infant sister Patricia and her sister and best friend Peggy Johnson. Betty is survived by her loving husband Bob Hamel, her devoted children Wendy Seabrook and Todd Hamel, her granddaughters Shyra and Kelsey Seabrook. Betty will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all of the people who’s lives she touched. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 11 th, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home with Tony Brennan officiating. Public Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 10 th, 2007 from 7:30-9:00p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home.
