Herta Greta Hager
June 20, 1920 – May 7, 2018 (Almost 98 yrs old!)

With deep sadness and joy for having her in our lives, we announce the grand exit of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend, Herta ‘Grandma’ Hager.  Herta was born in Berlin, Germany on June 20th, 1920.  In 1961 she and daughter Marianne immigrated to Canada settling in Strathmore, AB, then Calgary and then Chamberlain, SK (Nov 1962-2005), eventually moving to Moose Jaw, SK (2005-2018).  She was predeceased by her husband, Joe; parents, Wilhelm and Frieda Kirschke; sisters, Ilse Hager (Tony) and Hannelore Ziehr (Hans).
Herta’s memory will live forever in those she cherished the most:

Herta was an ambitious and avid traveler.  At age 65 she began her travel adventures, oftentimes traveling with her sister Ilse, or her children and grand-children.  Visiting more than half of the countries in the world, she was a curious and adventurous wanderer, some years being away for eight weeks or more.  She continued her travels until she was 95 when she made her last trip abroad with daughter Marianne to Mexico.  Grandma had an infectious, child-like charm that stayed with her until her last days.  In accordance with Herta’s wishes, there will be a private, immediate family only, graveside ceremony with a celebration of life to follow at a later date.  Our family wishes to offer a sincere thank you for all your love, prayers and friendship.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  James Murdock, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
