Jean Haavisto

Jean Elaine Haavisto, aged 72 years of Tuxford, SK passed away on Thursday, April 12th, 2018.  A Celebration of Jean’s Life will be held on Friday, August 31st, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Columba Cemetery.  A Time of Fellowship will follow at the Tuxford Hall from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. All who touched Jean’s life are welcome to attend.  Flowers are gratefully declined. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Jean’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Jean Elaine Haavisto, aged 72 years of Tuxford, SK passed away on Thursday, April 12th, 2018.  Jean was born and raised in Moose Jaw, SK and attended Empire School and Peacock High School.  She married Carl Haavisto on May 4th, 1963 and they settled in Tuxford in 1970.  Jean loved gardening and spending time with her family.  Her door was always open for coffee or a listening ear.  Jean also spent time being the organist at St. Johns United Church in Tuxford.  She was predeceased by her husband, Carl; parents, Ben and Natalie Bussey; parents-in-law, Tynne and Viano Haavisto; sister-in-law, Gertrude Jones; brothers-in-law, Bob Crozier and Bob Pierce; niece, Tammy Lynn; and special friend, Marilyn Carter.  Jean is survived by her sons, Norman and Marvin (Sherrie); daughter, Tanya (Kelly); grandchildren: Allen, Meagan, Cody, David, Shayna, Blake, Rhea, Tyler, Scott, and Keisha; and great-grandchildren: Paisley, Xander, Sophia, Piper, Dixie, Jacob, and Taylor.  A Celebration of Jean’s Life will be held on Tuesday, April 17th, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Harvey Room at Moose Jaw Funeral Home.  Pastor Marvin Seaborg will officiate and interment will take place at St. Columba Cemetery at a later date.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in Jean’s name may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, #1 – 2217 Hanselman Court, Saskatoon, SK S7L 9Z9, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, Unit 26 – 1738 Quebec Ave, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9, or The Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658 Station Main, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Gary McDowell, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
