Williamina (Ina) Gwilt
Williamina (Ina) Gwilt passed away Tuesday, July 12th, 2011 at Providence Place at the age of 95. She was born in Regina on January 30th, 1916. Ina was predeceased by her husband, Walter; father, George Paterson; mother and step-father, Margaret and Charles Low; two sisters, Jean Paton and Peg Anderson; and two brothers, George Paterson and Charles (Chick) Low. She has two sisters left to mourn her passing: Dolly Segouin and Betty (Merv) King. She is survived by one daughter, Ethel (Maurice) Schmidt and their children, Lori (Ron) Farnel, Tracey Schmidt (Clint Chesney), Stewart (Eran) Schmidt and Lindsay (Brian) Morhart; four great-grandchildren: Erin and Amanda Farnel, Charli Morhart and Leigha Schmidt. Mom was a farm girl, a farm wife and then a caregiver. She worked many years at the Sanitorium in Fort Qu’Appelle and when it closed, moved to Saskatoon. She retired early because the lifting had taken its toll on her knees, but she was reluctant to give it up. After Dad died, she moved to Moose Jaw and became a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and loved going there to visit. Her proudest moment was her 90th birthday at the Legion, surrounded by friends and family. A special thank you to the staff of St. Anthony’s Wing at Providence Place. A Celebration of Ina’s Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion on Sunday, August 7th, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Donations in Ina’s name may be made to The Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund, 268 High St. W., Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1S8.
