Carl Barry Gustafson

Carl Barry Gustafson passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 21st, 2013 at the age of 72 years, after a courageous battle with cancer.  Barry was born in Simpson, SK but lived in Imperial, SK until moving to Moose Jaw, SK in 2011.  He was predeceased by his father, Carl; mother, Norah; brother, Richard and sister, Margaret.  Barry will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Dalene; his children: Craig (Roberta) Gustafson, Dawn (Robert) Ewert and Dana (John) Kripki; his sister, Eileen (Blake) Adamson; brother, Jan-Mark (Sharon) Gustafson; grandchildren: Neely, AnnaRae, Anya, Brandon and Dustin; great-grandchild, Jaxon; and his special friend, Archie the cat.  Barry was first and foremost an excellent grain farmer.  His love of the land kept him farming until his retirement in 2011.  Barry also worked as a banker at the Royal Bank of Canada at Imperial, SK and Arcola, SK, as an elevator agent for Searle Grain Co. at Mair, SK, as a bulk manager for Imperial Co-op, as owner of Barry’s Hardware at Imperial, SK and as an agent for Saskatchewan Crop Insurance.  He was a life-long avid Saskatchewan Roughrider football fan and held season tickets with his wife for many years.  He also enjoyed travelling, ice-fishing, golfing, reading and watching baseball.  Barry was a longstanding member of the Imperial Lion’s Club.  He was a friend to many and never hesitated to lend a helping hand.  Barry’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Jagadish Saiprasad Rao and the special team of angels that cared for him during his stay at the Pasqua Hospital ICU, Regina, SK.  We will be forever grateful for their kindness and compassion.  Cremation has taken place.  At Barry’s request, no funeral service will be held.  There will be a private gathering held with family and close friends to celebrate his life at a later date.  Those so wishing may make donations in Barry’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK S4P 2R3.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Gary McDowell, Funeral Director. 693-4550.
