JAMES ALEXANDER GUNN
October 26th, 1943 – June 6th, 2014
Passed away at the Pasqua Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Regina, Saskatchewan, at the age of 70 years. Born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, to Donald and Mary Estella Gunn (nee Grayson), Jim grew up in the Archive and Moose Jaw area. Jim was a long-time fan and season ticket holder of the Moose Jaw Canucks and Moose Jaw Warriors and loved the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He was also a past member of the South Saskatchewan Wildlife Association. Jim attended Central Collegiate and Saskatchewan Technical Institute. Jim’s working life started at the Co-op Creamery, followed by CHAB Television, Elliot Motors, and CBC Television, before he eventually opened his own business, Plains Small Engine Service, where he worked until retirement in 2005. He was predeceased by his parents, and sister, Mary Joanne Gunn. Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sandra Gunn; son, Ian Gunn (Chantelle Warren) of Calgary, AB; daughter, Kimberly Gunn (Dave Kirk) of Annapolis Royal, NS; brother, Donald John Gunn (Shirley) of Moose Jaw, SK; nephew, Darrin Gunn (Celina) of Calgary, AB; nephew, Curtis Gunn (Tammy) of Saskatoon, SK; and niece, Tammy Gunn (Nino Ardizzi) of Toronto, ON; in addition to several aunts, uncles, great-nieces and nephews, and wonderful longtime friends who all meant a lot to him in his quiet way. Special thanks to John and Shirley Gunn, Shirley Grayson, and Larry Lichowit, and to the incredible doctors, nurses, and staff of the Pasqua Hospital Palliative Care Unit for their exceptional care, compassion, and understanding. Friends and relatives are invited to a Memorial Tea on Friday, June 13th, 2014 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. in the Harvey Room at Moose Jaw Funeral Home, Moose Jaw, SK. In recognition of Jim’s love of animals – including many beloved pet dogs over the years – the family requests donations to The Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658 Station Main, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7 in lieu of flowers.
