Alvina Marie Grove
Our beloved mother and wife, Alvina Marie Grove, passed away on Tuesday, December 27th, 2011. Alvina was born in Willow Bunch, SK where her father, Charles Henry Bonneau had moved to from Montreal. Alvina was the second born of fourteen children: Laurette, Alvina, Annette, Tommy, Lillian, Beatrice, Rose, Edward, Luke, Richard, Marcel, Pearl, Mervin and Charlene. Alvina was raised in Willow Bunch and received her formal education there as well. Mom enjoyed the time she spent singing with her older sister Laurette in the church choir. Mom’s love of music continued all her life. In later years mom enjoyed the trips that her and her husband Harvey took to places like Nashville and Branson, MS, where she loved the live concerts with some of her favourite country stars. Mom also loved to dance and both she and Harvey were very good on the dance floor. While we were growing up they would go dancing with our aunt Laurette and uncle George on a regular basis, either here in Moose Jaw or Regina. We recall many enjoyable get-togethers with her siblings, laughing and talking in French, with children running all around. After her children were grown, Mom provided a loving home for her and Harvey, which was always visited by us coming home and all her relatives and friends. Mom’s life was not without challenges, but it was her strength of character and perseverance that were some of the attributes which helped her overcome and succeed. Through it all, mom was there for us and those she held dear with a loving and sharing attitude at all times. Most of all we are forever grateful for your loving and unselfish approach you took with each and every one of us. You were our inspiration and guiding light. Alvina was predeceased by her daughter, Doris in 1990; her parents, Charles and Helen; her sisters: Laurette, Annette, Beatrice, Rose, Lillian and Pearl; her brothers: Tommy, Luke, Richard and Marcel. Alvina is survived by her husband, Harvey; her sister, Charlene Peake and brothers, Edward and Mervin Bonneau; her children, Larry (Nina) Caplette and Ralph (Harriett) Caplette. She is also survived by her three grandchildren: Christopher Caplette, Kelly Caplette and Danielle Caplette; two great-grandchildren; her special niece, Eileen Berg and other numerous nieces and nephews. We wish to thank Dr. Sanderson, Dr. Majid and Dr. Luhning for the care you gave to Mom in her old age. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 29th, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Interment will take place in Rosedale Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Alvina’s name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, SK S6H 2M2.
