Ivy Ethel Emma Grosnick
Ivy Ethel Emma Grosnick (Ivers) passed away September 4th, 2011 at the age of 93 years. She was born on September 15th, 1917 in Avonlea, SK to Bill and Eva Ivers and had 9 sisters and 5 brothers. She worked at Hutchinson’s as a hired girl where she met Ansel Grosnick and then married at Blue Hill Church on September 29th, 1939. She took a welding course at Peacock and they went to Toronto, where she worked at the war plant with her sister Darlene until she moved to work at the plane factory with Ansel. In 1945 they moved to the Briercrest area to farm. They adopted 2 daughters, Marlene June and Deborah Jean. She was employed as a telephone operator in Briercrest and later worked at Zellers and Canadian Tire when she retired in 1987 at the age of 70 years. They enjoyed their two toy poodles Twinkie and Sasha, dancing, music and travelling. She did a lot of handywork – knitting, crotcheting, macarame, ceramics, etc. She was predeceased by her husband Robert in 1999; daughter, Marlene Seabrook; sisters, Eleanor Ainsworth, Doris Sanders, Audrey Williams and Pearl Ivers; and brothers, Kenneth, Clarence, Gordon and Bill Ivers. Ethel will be sadly missed by her daughter, Debbie (Rod) Bauck of Chaplin, SK; six grandchildren: Rhonda (Pat) Coyne, Robert (Bonnie) Seabrook, Reagan Seabrook, Rodney Seabrook, Rod Bauck and Larson Bauck; sisters, Georgina Webb, Gladys Seida, Darlene Woodrow, June Mallmes, Shirley Jackson; and brother, Edward Ivers. In keeping with Ethel’s wishes, there will be no funeral service but a private family gathering at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Central Butte Health Care Foundation for Central Butte Regency Hospital, Box 582, Central Butte, SK S0H 0T0.
