Glen Greer
The Greer family is saddened to announce that Glen lost his valiant battle with cancer on Saturday, August 13th, 2011. He was 56 years old. Glen had a true zest for life. His drive and determination were evident whether he was working, playing one of the many sports he enjoyed, or preparing one of his favourite recipes. He especially cherished the time spent with his family and friends. Glen was very passionate about what he believed in and you always knew where you stood with him. He had an infectious sense of humour, was full of fun and lovingly teased his special grandchildren Jackson and Claire. Glen constantly rooted for the under-dog, was generous to a fault and many benefitted from this tremendous generosity. His greatest love was for his family and he proudly relished in each of their accomplishments. As we continue to journey through life, we will miss his guidance and sense of adventure but we know he will be with us every step of the way. Born in Moose Jaw to Mary and Murray Greer, Glen was the youngest of four boys. He married his high school sweetheart, Ruth and together they raised their children, Amy and Benn. Predeceased by his parents, Murray and Mary Greer; his mother and father-in-law, Jack and Dora Peden; and brother-in-law, Don Richan; Glen leaves his life partner, Ruth; daughter, Amy (Curtis Woloschuk) and grandchildren Jackson and Claire of Moose Jaw; son, Benn (Connie Wisner) of Regina; brothers, Daryl, Pat and Bob of British Columbia; brother-in-law, Bob Peden of Moose Jaw; sister-in-law, Beth Richan of Kingston, ON; aunt and uncle, Ken and Marg Greer of Moose Jaw and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank the Home Care Staff, especially Marie and Barb, for their support, guidance and care that made it possible for Glen to remain at home. We are so grateful. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 18th, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Pastor Doug Shepherd will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations in Glen’s memory may be made to Camp Circle of Friends, P.O. Box 47, Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon, SK. S7N 0W8.
