Eleanor Phyllis Gleim

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eleanor Phyllis Gleim on Wednesday, February 29th at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, at the age of 73 years. Eleanor was born to Phillip and Marie Deobald on January 24th, 1939 on the family farm near Kelstern, Saskatchewan. She attended school at Fairview School and Hodgeville High School. In 1957 Eleanor married the love of her life, Gordon Gleim. Gordon and Eleanor had five children, Rosemarie, Phillip, Trevor, Leroy, and Curtis. After stops in Uren and Morse, Eleanor and her family moved to Moose Jaw where she lived for most of her life. She worked at Woolco in the Customer Service Department until 1989. Eleanor had a strong work ethic; she was an immaculate housekeeper and a “stickler” for details. When she wasn’t working, at her job or in her home, she enjoyed spending time with her family. In 1997 Eleanor and her family received a wonderful gift of life from an anonymous donor. A heart transplant allowed Eleanor to be part of 14 more years of family memories. Eleanor was predeceased by her father and mother, Phillip and Marie Deobald; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Minnie Gleim; her brothers, Harvey and Ralph; and her son, Trevor. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Gordon; her children, Rosemarie (Gordon), Phillip (Cheryl), Leroy (Layne), Curtis (Lorrie) and her grandchildren, Chelsey, Arran, Jillian, Harris, Andrew, Evyn, Samantha, and Tiana. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 5th, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Pastor Bill Cantelon will officiate. Following the luncheon, burial will take place at Flowing Well Cemetery (Zion Lutheran Church). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eleanor’s name to a charity of your choice or to The Canadian Transplant Association, c/o Neil Folkin, Registrar, 11649 St. Albert Trail NW, Edmonton, Alberta, T5M 3L6.
