Amelia “Minnie” Gleim
Amelia “Minnie” Gleim formerly of Chaplin, Sask., passed away in Providence Place in Moose Jaw on Thursday, January 11th, 2007. Minnie was born to Henry and Maria (Hoffman) Weinbender on January 16 th, 1918 in Ernfold, Sask. Minnie attended Morse, Ernfold, and Lavender Schools, then worked at the Legrande farm, and helped raise her siblings at home. On January 10 th, 1937 Minnie married George Gleim and they farmed in the Uren district. They purchased a home and moved to Chaplin in 1968. Minnie was a member of the Chaplin Seniors and Chaplin Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo, gardening and visiting with friends. Minnie’s first love was her family; she was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Minnie was admitted to Providence Place on May 3 rd, 2006 and resided there until her passing. Minnie was predeceased by her husband George in 1985, her father Henry Weinbender, mother Maria Weinbender, 10 brothers Jack, Henry, Fred, Dave, Alex, Robert, Walter, Edward and two in infancy; as well as two sisters in law Lydia and Annie. Minnie is survived by her four children Gordon (Eleanor) Gleim of Moose Jaw, Helen (Andy) Lasota of Chaplin, Robert (Sandy) Gleim of Moose Jaw and Eileen (Terrence) McKee of Moose Jaw; 16 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one sister Elsie Schmidt of Hodgeville; as well as sisters and brothers in law and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, January 16 th, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Pastor Marvin Seaborg will officiate and burial will take place at Chaplin Cemetery at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chaplin Lutheran Church or a charity of one’s choice.
