Daniel Frederick Glass
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel Frederick Glass who was born on July 14th, 1946, in Moose Jaw, SK and passed away peacefully at his home on May 14th, 2024, at the age of 77.
On November 7th, he married the love of his life, Darlene Mae Hammer. They had five children. Alongside with his father, Fred, they built the family farm in the Valjean/Chaplin area.
Danny enjoyed all aspects of farming, including teaching all his children and grandchildren the values of hard work surrounding farm life.
He shared many stories of his life and experiences with us and loved telling jokes. He loved to listen to music, dance and was good at the jive. It wouldn’t be surprising to catch him at the kitchen table or sitting in his truck with a toe-tapping song blaring.
Danny was a quiet, kind, gentle soul who was an avid reader and liked hunting, auction sales, gun shows, oyster feeds and enjoyed a good visit in person or on the phone with anyone. He had a great laugh and a good sense of humour. He never gave up the opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren.
Danny was predeceased by his father, Frederick; his mother, Helena; infant son; three brothers-in-law and two sisters. Danny is lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Darlene Glass (nee Hammer); their children, Vivian (Jeremy) Thompson and their children Jadyn, August, Kristen (Joe), Toby, Abigale and Alysha; Ian (Deb); Jeff (Terrie) and their children Austin (Brandon), Carson and Dylan; Melissa (Ryan) McLaren and their children Emerson and Everett.
A Private Family Celebration of Danny’s life will be held at the Moose Jaw Funeral Home, and he will be laid to rest at the Chaplin Cemetery. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy for Danny’s family may be shared with Danny’s obituary at www.moosejawfuneralhome.com or sent to P.O Box 188, Chaplin SK S0H 0V0. In leu of flowers, donations in Danny’s life may be made to The Canadian Diabetes Assoc. 919B Albert St Regina, SK S4R 2P6.
Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Andrew Pratt, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
Darlene remember the good times and Danny will be with you. Thoughts and prayers for all of your family at this time of sorrow.
Sorry to hear about your loss he will be missed.
I am going to miss those calls to the parts department just to tell me the new joke he heard.
Sorry for your loss
My deep and sincere condolences to Darlene and the family.
We share in your grief Darlene, Ian, Jeff, Vivian, Melissa and families. ❤️ We remember fondly our visits to you in Chaplin and will always remember Danny’s vivid sense of humour – I wish I had written them all down!! Our Grandsons were impressed by the number of cattle, the size of the ranch, and the size of the farming equipment. The oldest grandson said “I didn’t know there was a tractor you could drive that took up the whole road!” The youngest grandson said “This place is bigger than the farms in Texas!”
Over the many years of our friendship – we have always been impressed by the work ethic, the integrity, the devotion and commitment to family and community of the Glass family.
Please accept our sincere condolences and know that we mourn along with you.
So sorry to hear of the loss of Danny. He always treated me so well and called to just check in and always had a joke or something interesting to say. He was one of my favorite people to deal with and will always be remembered.
