Eleanor Doreen Getty
Eleanor Doreen Getty passed away peacefully on May 19, 2024, at Pioneer Lodge in Moose Jaw with close family members nearby. She was raised on the Brown homestead at Stoney Beach and married Archey Lyle Getty on April 8, 1950. Archey and Eleanor raised their family and farmed in Archydal until 1992 when they moved to Moose Jaw. They celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2010. Eleanor loved to dance, work petit point, and play bridge and other card games. She was an avid gardener who enjoyed brightening up the outdoors with a colorful variety of flowers each year. She looked forward to visits with family and four-legged friends, and Eleanor was still preparing Christmas dinners up to 2021, with a bit more help over the years.
She was predeceased by her husband Archey (2011); parents Allan and Christina Brown; brother Murray (Janet); daughter Arlene; son-in-law Doug; and grandsons James and Steven. Eleanor is survived by many family members, including her sisters Donna (Jim) Cretney and Faye (Howard) Hicks; children: Cheryl Bruce, Robert (Lorrie) Getty, and Murray (Debra) Getty; grandchildren: Tyler (Madhavi), Alana (Sean), Kendra (Jonathan), Kylie, Daniel (Alyssa), Ritchard (Megan); and great-grandchildren: Callum, Trewin, Fiona, Anneli, Kieran and Emily.
A Private Family Interment will be held at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to Moose Jaw Health Foundation (https://www.mjhf.org/) at 55 Diefenbaker Drive, Moose Jaw, SK S6J 0C2. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Michelle Ellis, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
