Blanche Gaudreau
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Blanche Gaudreau. Born in Gravelbourg, SK, on June 6th, 1948, and raised in Courval, Blanche passed away peacefully, at the time of her choosing, on September 25, 2024 while surrounded by several family members.
Predeceased by her beloved sons, Matthew and Benjamin Beard, her parents, Armand and Lea Gaudreau, her brothers Gerry, Louis, and Allan Gaudreau, her nephews Curtis Hannah, Cliff Andres and Jeffrey Gaudreau, and her good friend, Aileen Hall.
She leaves to mourn her brother Ray Gaudreau, her sister Dolly (Claude) Richard, and nephew Corey (Karen) Hannah (Cayla, Aiva, Adrian). Her niece Laura Hannah (Reanne, Jamie), sisters-in -laws Lea, Diana, Adeline, along with many other nieces, nephews, and cousins, who will forever hold her in their hearts.
Blanche’s warm and caring nature extended beyond her family. Her longtime friends, Liz Fox, Maxine Zachow, and Lucille Trembley, will remember her fondly for the laughter she brought to their lives.
Blanche was very proud of her advocacy work for the LGBTQ+ community whom she considered her extended family. In 1993 she organized the first ever local ‘pride’ event and coined the phrase “It’s In to be Out in Moose Jaw”.
Her memory will continue to be a source of comfort, inspiration and laughter to all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace, forever remembered and loved.
Some of Blanche’s final words:
“When you think of me- Laugh lots -don’t cry. I’m at peace,”
A celebration of Blanche’s life will be held on Sunday, October 20th, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Moose Jaw Eagles Club, 561 Home Street West. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor and remember her. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Michelle Ellis, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
Aw sad. I worked at the taxi company when she was a driver. Hung with Louis and Adeline in earlier years.
Remembering Blanche with much love as she is welcomed with open arms by other family members. RIP Auntie
My thoughts and prayers are with you all
We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Blanche. She was a feisty, funny, lady. We met Blanche at the Glamj Group in Moose Jaw , and would chat with her at the many potlucks the group put on. She is free from her pain and suffering and is now re-united with her sons. May you rest in peace dear Blanche. One of Blanche’s favourite sayings was “Another One Bites the Dust. Laugh lots”. I hope you are laughing lots in Heaven. You will be missed by all who knew you.
I’m so sorry to hear of Blanches passing. It’s been many years since that 93 Pride Event when we were on that committee! I moved away and lost contact but am happy to hear she kept her joy and passion. Always be strong and brave, be yourself, be kind and live life with Grace and Dignity just like Blanche. Sincerely Darcy Albright
