WILLIAM FREDERICK GARDNER
December 11th, 1922 – December 20th, 2010
William Gardner of Moose Jaw, SK. passed away peacefully at Moose Jaw Union Hospital on December 20th, 2010 at the age of 88, after spending the day with many family members. He is survived by his wife, Marguerite; his son, Jim (Elaine) Gardner and granddaughters Emma and Kerry of Moose Jaw, and daughter Michele (Ken) Frick and grandsons Gregory and Matthew of Lethbridge, AB. Bill was born in Moose Jaw and spent most of his life in the Friendly City. He served in R.C.N. during WWII and spent most his teaching career at A.E. Peacock High School. Students will remember his kind heart and a very loud sneeze. Bill is a cancer survivor having had a lung removed in 1985, following his retirement from teaching. As a younger man, Bill coached minor hockey, umpired baseball and loved golfing and fishing. In his later years, Bill immensely enjoyed watching his grandchildren and supporting their successes academically and in sports as he rarely missed their ball games and was so proud of all their accomplishments. He also greatly enjoyed time spent with the crews on coffee-row and their comaraderie. At Bill’s request there will be no funeral, but a private family interment at a later date. A Memorial Tea will be held in Bill’s honor at a future date. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Bill’s name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, SK. S6H 2M2 or to a charity of one’s choice.
