MARGUERITE JEAN GARDNER
January 10th, 1929 – February 25th, 2015
Marguerite Gardner of Moose Jaw, SK passed away on Wednesday, February 25th, 2015 at the age of 86 years. Marguerite was born in Moose Jaw and spent most of her life in the friendly city. She began teaching in 1949 and later in 1966 achieved an Education Degree from the University of Regina. Marguerite was able to share her life-long love of reading throughout her career as a teacher and librarian. She treasured fond memories of working with students. Marguerite was also an active member of Saint Andrew’s United Church. Each year, she combined her love of knitting with her giving spirit and donated numerous handmade items for children in need. Marguerite possessed a wealth of knowledge of family history which she enjoyed passing on. She valued keeping in touch with old friends through regular letter writing and her daily visits with the Mall Walkers Club for coffee and exercise. Marguerite married William Gardner in 1953. They shared a wonderful marriage until William’s passing in 2010. Together they enjoyed playing cards, visiting with friends, and cheering on the Warriors, Canucks, and local baseball teams. Their greatest sense of accomplishment came from actively supporting and encouraging their children and grandchildren in their successes in life. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Maggie Hendry; and by her brothers, James and John (Phyllis) Hendry. Marguerite will be lovingly remembered by her son, Jim (Elaine) Gardner of Moose Jaw and daughter, Michele (Ken) Frick of Lethbridge, AB; grandchildren: Emma (Cameron) MacKay, Kerry Gardner, Gregory Frick and Matthew Frick. She will be greatly missed by all. At Marguerite’s request, there will be no Funeral Service and a private family interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marguerite’s name may be made to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, 455 Fairford St E, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1H3 or to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Todd Sjoberg, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
