He was predeceased by his father, Elgin; brothers: Wilfred, Maddie, Wayne (Bud), Ray, Gordon (Butch) and George; and by sisters, Irene (Liz) Vrooman and Dora McLauchlan. Tom will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 40 years, Marla; son, Jayson; mother, Eva; sisters-in-law, Sandra (Jim) Russell and Bette Jayne (Stephan) Pope; brothers-in-law: Randy (Brenda) Babich, Bob McLauchlan and Bob Vrooman; and numerous nieces and nephews. Tommy grew up in Moose Jaw, SK where he attended Ross Elementary School. He grew up along side his family of 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Tommy and the rest of the Gamble family were known around the neighborhood by many. Tommy later went on to attend A.E. Peacock “Tech” High School. Tom then worked on the gang crews with his brothers and eventually got a career at the C.P.R. He worked there for 35 years and retired at 55 years of age. Tommy’s co-workers loved him and his “amazing” wittiness and sense of humour. He kept his co-workers laughing with his priceless “one liners”. Tommy was a devoted husband, father and son. He was married to his wife Marla for 40 years and cared deeply for her. Tommy devoted his time to his mother Eva of 99 years of age. He was always there for her and looked after her anyway possible. Tommy’s son Jayson was very special to him and they shared a very close relationship. Tommy and his wife Marla would follow their son on many hockey and baseball trips together. These trips were special as were many family trips they shared, one of them recently to Jamaica in January 2011. There was never a dull moment on these adventures. Tommy very much enjoyed watching his son play sports as Tommy himself was interested in sports. Tommy liked playing hockey and baseball as a youngster. Tommy later played softball on many teams. He shared many memories with his friends during and after the game. He played short-stop. Not many balls would get by him. On occasions he used his nose to stop the ball. Tommy later hung up his cleats but on occasion would play slow-pitch with his son, cause he wanted to show “these young guys” he still had it. Tommy was also a golfer. He was a member at the Lynbrook Golf Course for a number of years. Tommy loved to golf! No matter how sore he was some days, he would try his best to get out for a round of golf. Tommy was also dedicated to his appearance. He always needed to look and dress good. He was what you would call a “sharp dressed man”. Tommy had some tough times in the later part of his life. He was up and down health wise. Tommy’s last time in the hospital was beyond belief. He showed how tough he actually was. He was an amazing man. Tommy will be sadly missed by his mother, wife and son. Tommy will be missed by all his relatives and friends who shared in his life. Tommy was one of a kind. He was sharp dressed, his sense of humour was second to none. His love for his family was remarkable! He was a very nice man and a pleasure to be around. We will embrace the times and memories. He is now in a good and peaceful place. I’ll miss you, Dad, my best friend and father. We had a special relationship that I will carry with me the rest of my life. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Tom’s name may be made to The Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658 Station Main, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 9Z9.
