PETER JACOB FUNKE
(Feb 14, 1925 – Dec 17, 2017)
Peter passed away peacefully with family by his side on Sunday, December 17th, 2017. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Stella; parents, Paul and Malvina; brothers, Lawrence and George; and sisters: Louise Struble, Margaret Fichter, and Leone O’Sullivan. Peter will be lovingly remembered by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Kenny (Valerie), Justin (Stephanie), Avery, Lucas and Macy, Jennifer (Darrick), Jacob, Alyssa and Nolan, and Dallas (Kylie), Eileen (Rick) Flegel, Ryan, Jeremy (Karen), Hailey and Melanie (Braden) Guraluick, Carol (Todd) Holland, Tanya (Chris), Paisley, Bexley, Travis (Trina), Jaxon, Willow and Kyle, Brian (Debbie), Shania (Brett) and Jared, Raymond (Lana), Breanne and Jillian, Geoff (Jolene), Quinn and Nate. Peter is also survived by brothers, Alfred and Arnold (Marie); sister, Jeanette (Robert); sisters-in-laws: Rita and Leah Funke, Bernice Jelinski, Rosaline (Leo) Condon, Inez (Jack) Duffy, Rita Matters, Evelyn (Elmer) Hagen, Eileen (Wayne) Sharpe and Marie Flood; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Peter was born in the Avonlea area and moved with his family to Claybank, SK at a young age and this is where he spent most of his life. He took over the family farm just west of Claybank where he and Stella raised their children and farmed together until they retired to Moose Jaw in 1985. They were able to enjoy many holidays to P.E.I, Mexico, Victoria, Vancouver, Hawaii, Calgary, and places in the US, some of which were with their grandchildren. In 2012 Peter moved to Avonlea to live out the rest of his life at the Coteau Range Manor. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 23rd, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Claybank, SK with Fr. J.R. Prince as the presiding celebrant. Interment will take place in Claybank Cemetery. A Prayer Service will be held on Friday, December 22nd, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Claybank, SK. The family would like to thank Linda and her staff at the Coteau Range Manor in Avonlea for the exceptional care they provided to Peter during his stay there. He was treated like family by each one of the staff. Flowers are gratefully declined.
