Gary Allen Friesen
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gary Allen Friesen, who lost his battle with cancer on the morning of Thursday, January 1st, 2015 in Moose Jaw, SK, in his 63rd year. Gary passed away peacefully with his family by his side. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Wendy; daughters: Chantell (John), Tanya (Daryl) and Corrin (Curtis); his grandson, Joey, with whom he shared his passion for music; and his cherished granddaughters: Gabrielle, Danica, Keara and Payton. Gary is survived by his sisters: Barbara, Joanne and Dianne; and brothers, Robert and Donald. He will also be sadly missed by his large extended family and many close friends. Gary was born in Calgary, AB. His 30-year career with the Royal Canadian Air Force brought him to reside in Edmonton, Ottawa and Moose Jaw. This was followed by a rewarding 16-year career with Bombardier. Gary could always be found playing guitar with his family and friends, as well as the local musicians at Harmonies. He also enjoyed tackling ambitious home renovations, camping, billiards, golf, travelling and spending time with loved ones. Gary was a kind and generous man of faith who had a great sense of humour. He cared very much for the people in his life and was loved by all who had the opportunity to know him. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the Diagnostic Imaging Department at the Regina General Hospital and the Palliative Care Team in Moose Jaw for their compassionate service. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 6th, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Pastor Johanne Spencer will officiate and interment will take place in Sunset Cemetery at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Gary’s name may be made to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation for Palliative Care, 455 Fairford St E, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1H3 or the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre St, Regina, SK S4P 2R3.
