LAURETTA ANNA FRAZER (nee Bonneau)
June 18th, 1923 to May 28th, 2010
Our beloved mother, Lauretta Anna Frazer passed away peacefully on Friday, May 28th, 2010. Lauretta was born in Willow Bunch, SK. where her father, Charles Henry Bonneau had moved to from Montreal. Lauretta was the first born of a family of fourteen. Mom left school at an early age to help care for her many siblings. She was accomplished at running an organized home. Sewing was one of her passions and she became an exceptional seamstress. As a child, Mom was devoted to celebrations in the Catholic Church, she loved to sing and was a member of the church choir with her younger sister Alvina. Mom’s love of the church and music continued all her life. In later years, one of the highlights of her travels was a trip to Nashville, where she enjoyed live concerts with some of her favorite country stars. Mom loved to dance and it was a joyful pastime shared with her husband, George. While we were growing up, our home was the center for countless family gatherings. We recall many happy times Mom spent with her siblings laughing, talking in French, children running in and out and all of the huge suppers. After her children were grown, for over twenty years, Mom provided a loving home to women faced with mental challenges. Mom lived an exemplary life stemming from her deep roots in the Catholic faith. We admired her perseverance, inner strength, her courage and especially the wisdom she developed through the challenging turns her life took. Her matriarchal presence at all family gatherings will be deeply missed. Most of all Mom, we are forever grateful for your deep love and continuous prayers for each of us. You were our loving anchor. Lauretta was predeceased by her husband George in 1983; her parents Charles and Helen; her sisters Annette, Beatrice, Rose and Lilianne; her brothers Tom, Luke, Richard and Marcel; and her son-in-law Hugh MacPhail. Lauretta is survived by her brothers Mervin and Edward Bonneau; her sisters Alvina (Harvey) Grove, Bea Lowe, and Charlene Peake; her children Eileen Berg, Dr. Larry (Marlene) Lapointe, and Marilyn (Mike) Hayes. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Brie (Michael) Shortland, Lora-Lee (Chuck) Hauck, Chantal (Travis) Sannachan, Devin (Savannah) Richard and Evamarie Lapointe; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. We wish to thank the dedicated sisters of St. Joseph’s Seniors Home in Medicine Hat where Mom lived the past two years in order to be closer to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Our deepest gratitude to her devoted companion, Florence Talbot and to Dr. Sanderson and Dr. Ramadan for the care you gave to Mom in her old age. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 3rd, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Church of Our Lady. Interment will be held at a later date at Rosedale.
