She was predeceased by her husband Harry, her parents John and Barbara Paysen, two brothers Ernest and Werner, three sisters Elsie, Elise, and Emma, brother-in-law Boyd Coulson, niece Margaret Fish, and nephews Brian and Calvin Paysen.
Erna was born at the family home in the Robin Hood District on June 22, 1917. She attended the Robin Hood School and later Central Butte School. Erna worked at home on the farm until 1947 when she married her husband Harry. Together they farmed in the Robin Hood District until 1958 when they purchased the Marshall Wells store in Central Butte. A number of years later they changed the store to Macleods. Erna worked in the store until a year after Harry’s passing and then retired.
Her steadfast faith and family were extremely important to her. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Erna was very proud of her grandchildren and their accomplishments and loved to attend their sporting events. She loved to garden both indoors and out. Erna also enjoyed travelling and seeing new sites. She had many other interests including the theatre, knitting and crocheting, handicrafts, reading, sporting events, fishing and camping.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the nursing staff at Regency Hospital for their care and compassion.
Erna’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 31 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chaplin Lutheran Church with Pastor Marvin Seaborg officiating . Internment will take place at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Central Butte United Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Erna’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
